Academies: the implications for disabled children and children with special educational needs

What you will gain

An understanding of:

• the Academies Act in relation to SEN and disability and the legal responsibilities of academies;
• the academies programme: successes and challenges in meeting responsibilities to disabled children and children with SEN;
• the next stages of the academies programme in the context of wider school reforms, including special school acadmies;
• how voluntary organisations can work constructively with academies and support parents in holding academies to account;
• the implications of academies for local authority central services.

Outputs
On the day you will be provided with a delegate pack containing speaker presentations and an attendee list. Following the seminar attendees will also receive a briefing on academies and special educational needs, which will build on discussions from the day.


How to Book

This seminar is particularly relevant for schools, local authorities, voluntary organisations and parent partnership services with an interest in Academies and the implications for SEN.

An agenda and papers will be sent to you closer to the time.

To keep costs to a minimum we have to apply a strict cancellation policy; less than two weeks notice you will be expected to pay 50% of the cost, less than 1 week you will be expected to pay the full 100%.
